At the End
A downloadable game
At the End is a tabletop game about intimate, emotional introspection. In At The End, two players reflect upon their lives together as though they have recently passed on. Each player answers as themselves, making up a way in which they passed.
To play, both players take on the role of themselves–recently deceased–and answer questions about their death, the life they led, and how they feel about it all. Over the course of the game both players will answer prompts that will help them better understand and contextualize their life. These prompts can range from establishing semi-fictional information, like “how did you die?” or “what were you doing the day before you passed?”, to more open-ended prompts that challenge the players’ understanding of themselves, like “what do you most regret not saying, and to whom?” or “what’s something you’re happy you did before you died?”
At the End is strongly inspired by the card game We Are Not Really Strangers.
